Is the 'end' just ahead? Are the signs right?

Jesus said: "Many will come in my name saying, 'the end is near'. Do not go after them!" (Luke 21:8)

The people of Noah's day didn't know the end was coming. There were no signs, no warnings - it was just 'business as usual' until the flood came and swept the wicked away.

The people of Lot's day didn't know the end was coming. There were no signs, no warnings - it was just 'business as usual' until fire came down from heaven and consumed the wicked.

Jesus said it will be the same right up to the last day of human existence on this earth. There will be no signs, no warnings - it will be just 'business as usual' until the wicked are suddenly 'taken' to destruction.

People were eating, drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, marrying and being given in marriage up until the time of destruction. It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. (Luke 17:26-30)

The end will not come during a time of war. It will not come during a time of upheaval, but during a time of peace, when things seem to be going well.

For when they say, 'peace and safety'; sudden destruction will come upon them, and they will not escape. (1 Thes.5:3)

Why do we listen to those always talking about the 'signs' of the end?

Jesus told us clearly not to follow them! There will be no signs for the world to see! It will 'business as usual' halted by sudden destruction!

There are no new signs!

Jesus, himself, is the sign God promised to give the people of the world before the last day arrives and destruction comes upon them swiftly. He is the only sign God has approved.

Jesus said, "An evil generation seeks after a sign, but no sign will be given to it, except the sign of Jonah."
For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so the Son of Man will be a sign to this generation. (Lk.11:29)

The sign of 'the Son of Man' is easy to see.

Just as Jonah spent three days and nights in the belly of a whale before taking salvation to Nineveh, so Jesus spent three days and nights in the belly of the earth before releasing his Spirit on the saved.

Jesus powerful death and resurrection combined with the dramatic 'fire' and 'wind' coming of the Spirit at Pentecost make up God's final spectacular sign to the world.

There will be no more signs!

Jesus will return on a day when everything is 'business as usual'. People will be buying and selling, marrying and giving in marriage, building and planting, eating and drinking, working and sleeping, right up until the last day of human history; the day when Jesus will return to gather those he can call his 'faithful' servants.

Instead of following people who are seeking signs, maybe we should be following 'the sign' himself, Jesus Christ, and seeking ways to be found faithfully keeping his commands when he returns!

Straining our eyes to watch for any other 'sign' is futile.

False teachers have muddied the truth of Revelation, adding things which are just not there, thereby changing its message.

Not only are there no signs to seek, there is no mention anywhere in the Book of Revelation of a human Antichrist world ruler, a one-world government, an abomination sitting in a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem, a rapture, or any unbridled Satanic havoc.

These are merely a smokescreen to hide the truth! What is the truth?

Revelation is about Christ!

It clearly explains who brings the judgments of God to the earth (not Satan); how the redeemed are protected (from God's judgment), who our real enemy is (not Satan's Antichrist), and who will rule the nations in the last days (again, not Satan!)
